A Tainted Voice by Jina Wallwork
Through the act of creation, I speak with my true voice. At times, others have offered me their voices and claimed that they would complement my own. This is only possible, however, when voices speak in harmony. Your intentions must synchronize, or you will create only noise. If your creations originate from love, then they can be tainted by working with people whose only focus is financial gain. Some efforts to collaborate have resulted in my voice being poisoned and overwhelmed by the voices of others. As they speak, their voices create a dark smoke that rests heavily on their shoulders and mine. Their voices travel along my insecurities, their words echo around my mind, and their manipulations disrupt the natural flow of my creativity. When I consider a project, I ask myself how it will affect my process. I question what environment I will be working in. A voice that is tainted with greed will always create a thick smoke for me to breathe. I will suffocate as I struggle for breath, and my light will fade away.
