Existence and the Creative Flame by Jina Wallwork
20″ x 20″ acrylic on canvas
This painting shows the creative flame moving around some of the universes that are part of existence. The flame is constant. It exists inside the universe, and it also flows across the timeless space that exists on the outside. Without time, the flame never Ignited. Beginnings and endings are both an illusion. Death is a moment of change in a long journey. The infinite soul is often disguised as something finite. Creation can imply a beginning, but when we view it as a creative flame that burns throughout existence, we can see the constant aspects that are a part of its natural flow. Beginnings can suggest that something can be created from nothing, and endings imply that we can become nothing. Both concepts are flawed because every flame requires something to burn. The flame twists and turns in every direction while accepting that it will always be a flame. Its elemental nature will never change, so it will always exist as a contradiction. The flame is both change and stability.
